Customers of Amazon are fuming up due to the company’s lack on packaging on its deliveries

Many have taken their anger to social media in order to complain that their Christmas present surprises have been ruined after their packages arrived without any paper wrapping or cardboard box to hide the contents.

Whereas items that are used to be delivered in brown boxes have been arriving with a delivery label that is placed straight on to the item.

A customer said that she was “absolutely fuming” after the person who was supposed to receive the present saw what the item was upon its delivery. The customer also accused Amazon of “ruining Christmas.”

The change happened after Amazon was criticised consistently for delivering small items in unnecessarily huge boxes.

A spokesperson for Amazon has confirmed that the company is trying to cut down the amount of packaging that it uses.

The company also clarified that customers do have a way of making sure that their deliveries do not arrive exposed.

The representative replied to a customer who complained on Facebook stating: “I’m so very sorry that your surprise was ruined. We try to minimise the amount of packaging materials we use as much as possible.

“For future orders, you can keep the contents of your package a surprise by selecting the gift option during checkout, or you may mark ‘Ship in Amazon box’ on the checkout page if you don’t wish to reveal the contents.”

This is not the first time that Amazon has come under fire this festive season as they have also been accused of ruining the magic of Christmas for children after their advertisement showed a parent that is hiding Amazon boxes of presents from his kids.
