Annie Lennox says that she plans to stay as a global ambassador for Oxfam despite the accusations of sexual misconduct by some of the employees of the charity during a relief operation in Haiti.
The former Eurythmics singer informed the Sunday Times magazine that she was not going to “walk away” from the charity. The 63-year-old Lennox says that while the actions of Oxfam were flawed, the charity has already promised change.
Lennox says that “it would be an absolute tragedy for millions of people across the world if Oxfam were no longer to function properly because their funding was cut.”
The charity has been shaken by accusations that seven of its employees used prostitutes on the property of the charity while working in Haiti following the earthquake that devastated the country in 2010.
