Indeed, a recruitment website, has named Apple, the tech giant that is based in the United States of America, as the best employer in the United Kingdom.
The rankings of the website were able to assess some factors which included flexible working opportunities, salary, and also career progression across millions of reviews that were made by employees in the United Kingdom.
Apple was lauded by most of its employees for its positive work culture, good pay, and even for handing them the occasional freebies.
Despite Apple taking the lead spots, firms in the United Kingdom accounted for two-thirds of the list that consisted of 25 companies.
In second place was Wren Kitchens, a Humberside homeware retailer, which employs more than 4,000 employees. It scored highly for treating and valuing its staff well.
Glaxo Smith Kline, the Global pharmaceutical business, came in third place for offering a good work-life balance.
The retail sector ruled the top 25 companies, with ten high street brands, including struggling firms John Lewis and Marks & Spencer, which are in the eighth and 10th spots respectively.
The employees of John Lewis felt that they were valued at work, with good opportunities for job progression, while Marks & Spencer received appreciation from its staff for its pay and benefits as well as its culture.
The UK managing director at Indeed, Bill Richards, stated: “Companies that make their employees feel valued and offer a positive working environment score consistently highly among the reviews posted on Indeed. As we continue to see for many staff, work-life balance, career prospects and a great workplace culture can all mean more than a good salary alone.”
