The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Apple has recently landed its fifth scripted TV series and the company’s third that was produced by the company, Hello Sunshine, of Reese Witherspoon. The newest addition is a comedy that stars SNL alum Kristen Wiig, and it is said to be inspired by You Think It, I’ll Say It, a Curtis Sittenfeld short story collection.
Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine is also producing a show for the tech giant called Are You Sleeping? which stars Octavia Spencer. The series is based on a novel that was written by Kathleen Barber about a woman whose father’s murder is investigated in a hit podcast. The third project between Hello Sunshine and Apple is an as-of-now unnamed drama about a daily morning TV show starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.
Among the other projects of Apple is a sci-fi drama called See, which is set to be directed by Francis Lawrence, the Hunger Games director, and a documentary series about house design that is produced by Matthew Weaver of Rock of Ages. Apple also has an anthology series that is called Amazing Stories in the works, which is set to be written by Bryan Fuller (American Gods, Star Trek: Discovery) and is produced by Steven Spielberg. Apple has obviously established a pattern of signing shows with huge names behind them and this latest addition to its lineup is no different.
The series that is led by Kristen Wiig is currently untitled. However, it is said that it will be a 10-episode half-hour comedy. It was created by Colleen McGuinness, the 30 Rock writer and producer.
