The recently revealed bugs that affect many modern CPUs is currently an issue on the platforms of Apple as well, and the tech giant explained how the company is dealing with them. In a new support page that was launched, Apple confirmed that it has included “mitigations” for Meltdown in macOS 10.13.2, iOS 11.2, and tvOS 11.2, while watchOS is not affected. It will address the other exploit, Spectre in a few days with an update to the browser of Safari on iOS and macOS, with other fixes that are set to follow.
According to the tech giant, its updates of Meltdown have resulted in “no measurable reduction” in terms of performance. As far as its Safari tweak that is still-unreleased, Apple says that on ARES-6 and Speedometer benchmarks, there is no noticeable change in terms of performance and a hit of under 2.5 percent on the benchmark of JetStream browser.
