China and Britain have pledged to cooperate in a clean energy research and promote the global use of the currency of Beijing as the United Kingdom prepares to withdraw from the European Union.
On Saturday, officials announced the agreements after an economic dialogue in Beijing that was led by the finance minister of Britain and a senior Chinese economic official. The said event was attended by a delegation of British economic officials and business leaders.
British leaders are considering China for trade and investment as they attempt to fashion a new global role and offset lowered access to the other 27 nations of the European Union common market.
Ma Kai, the leader of the Chinese delegation, said that they agreed to push through with a new investment agreement and participate in energy research and to encourage international use of the yuan of China.
