Donald Trump, the President of the United States of America, says that arming teachers as a solution against shootings in schools in the US is “Up to States.”
Trump has supported the idea of putting “gun-adept” staff and teachers in schools with concealed firearms in order to protect the students after the shooting at a Florida high school this month killed 17 people.
However, neither President Trump nor the White House has disclosed who would pay to train them. Trump has also promoted giving bonuses to the educators who volunteer to carry a firearm with them.
In his latest tweet, Trump stated: “Armed Educators (and trusted people who work within a school) love our students and will protect them. Very smart people. Must be firearms adept & have annual training. Should get yearly bonus. Shootings will not happen again – a big & very inexpensive deterrent. Up to States.”
