Elon Musk Smokes Weed On Podcast, Shares Of Tesla Plummets Amid Executive Departures

Today, the shares of Tesla dived in pre-market trading as two executives stepped down from their positions in the company, with one resigning after only a month, citing massive public attention.

The announcements came on the same day as Elon Musk, the outspoken entrepreneur and Tesla CEO, appeared online while smoking marijuana.

The shares of Tesla dropped by up to eight percent in pre-market trading after the departure of Dave Morton, the chief accounting officer of Tesla, was announced in a filing to the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

The marijuana incident of the Tesla CEO was the most recent in a series of the exploits of the business magnate to hit the headlines. It also came after he denied that he was “on weed” when he posted his infamous tweet that said that he was considering taking Tesla, the car company, private.

The first month of Tesla chief accounting officer Morton at the firm has been a turbulent one. He joined the day before Musk released his plans to go private.

Since then, Musk has informed the New York Times that he was not high when he tweeted his plans. This followed Instagram posts by Azealia Banks, a singer, which purported to show texts that were delivered between her and Grimes, the girlfriend of Musk.

While explaining his departure in a regulatory filing, Morton stated: “Since I joined Tesla on August 6, the level of public attention placed on the company, as well as the pace within the company, have exceeded my expectations.”

He added: “As a result, this caused me to reconsider my future. I want to be clear that I believe strongly in Tesla, its mission and its future prospects, and I have no disagreements with Tesla’s leadership or its financial reporting.”

According to Bloomberg, Gaby Toledano, Tesla’s HR chief, also decided not to return following a leave of absence that she took last August.

The use of the drugs of Musk on-air was part of a podcast made with Joe Rogan, a comedian. The podcast was also filmed and uploaded to Youtube.

The interview lasted for two and a half hours. Rogan offered Musk a joint, which was accepted.

Musk stated: “I mean, it’s legal, right?”

Last January, Marijuana was  declared legal in California

Rogan also posted a picture of Musk firing a flamethrower of his Boring Company in the studio.
