Facebook Messenger is launching the Discover tab to its users in the United Kingdom, giving them a new place to look for chatbots to converse with on the app.

Chatbots have been rolling out steadily on Messenger over the past two years as profiles that are powered by artificial intelligence that enable the users to have conversations with businesses as if they were talking to a single person.

Last summer, the Discover feature was first introduced in the United States, and after what Facebook has so far described as promising outcomes, it is now being expanded to the United Kingdom.

Chatbots enable the users to get personalised news stories, purchase tickets for events or check the delivery status of their orders from businesses without having to go through customer service sections of websites or website forms.

They instead make use of natural language understanding and Artificial Intelligence to send answers to queries in a manner that is conversational.

The new tab will feature a search function to enable users to look for bots and pages that they are specifically looking for, as well as see a list of the bots that they have recently used should they need to go back to a conversation.

The tab will also include a “featured” section which will promote businesses and bots that are considered to be of interest, while a “categories” section is also established with the aim to organise the various bots by topic.

The new section of the messenger app will appear as an icon lthat is located in the bottom right-hand corner of the home screen of Messenger.
