Famous Designer Kate Spade Found Dead

According to law enforcement officials in the United States, Kate Spade, an American designer, was found and pronounced dead today while she was in her Park Avenue apartment in New York City.

The New York City police informed the Associated Press that it was an apparent suicide and that her housekeeper found Spade hanging in the apartment at around 10:20 a.m. According to some reports that were released by the New York Times, a note had been left behind in the location of the incident. The police confirmed that husband was at the scene, however, the whereabouts of her daughter is still unknown.

Police said that an investigation regarding the death of the designer is ongoing and had made no further comment. A representative for Spade said that she did not have a statement at this time.


The legal name of Kate Spade is Katherine Brosnahan. She was the pioneer of a series of successful female designers in the United States of America during the 1990s.

The company that was established by Spade is best-known for its range of bright and colourful accessories and is recognisable by its trademark playing cards symbol logo. In 2007, it was sold by Kate, only to be acquired by Coach in May 2017 for a deal that was worth $2.4bn (£1.85bn).

Kate Spade New York has over 140 outlet stores and retail shops across the United States of America, with more than 175 shops that are spread across the globe. in 2016, the designer sold the last of her shares in that namesake company.

In a statement that was released by Kate Spade New York, it stated: “Kate Spade, the visionary founder of our brand, has passed.

“Our thoughts are with her family at this incredibly heartbreaking time. We honour all the beauty she brought into this world.”

The news of the death of Spade prompted an outpour of grief and tributes from the fans of Kate Spade on social media. Many also posted the number for the National Suicide Prevention hotline, 800-273-8255.
