Google Home Speakers Can Now Double as House Intercoms

Amazon is not the only tech company that is turning smart speakers into intercoms. Google is pushing an upgrade of its Assistant that allows you to broadcast your voice to every Home speaker that can be found in your house using either your phone or another speaker. If you need to call on the entire household, you simply have to say “OK Google, broadcast” and whatever you wish to deliver. It will even ring a dinner bell when you say “it’s dinner time.” And users do not even have to be at home, either — you can easily inform the family that you are on your way without having to send a text message or make a phone call.

The intercom feature is compatible with all devices that are signed into the same Google account. As of the moment, you can use it if you are in a predominantly English-speaking country such as Canada, Australia, the United States, of the United Kingdom. However, more languages will be coming soon. Is Google running a little late to the party when Amazon has had the same concept for months now? Probably, but we would not knock the addition as it is one of the most obvious uses for a smart speaker, and it will be a relief to anyone who is tired of shouting themselves hoarse or marching around the house.
