More than a year after Billionaire Donald Trump surprised the world with his shocking electoral victory over Hillary Clinton. Clinton, who is his former Democratic foe has an uncomplicated explanation for why President Trump would not stop talking about her: She received more votes than him.
Clinton won the popular vote but lost in the electoral college. During an interview on “Listen Up,” a Washington Post podcast, she stated that Trump is “obsessed” with her.
Clinton said: “Well, he’s a little obsessed with me, but I think it’s partly his own ego because he knows I got more votes and he knows that there are questions about the election that deserve answers. And he knows I’m still speaking out, I haven’t retreated under a rock somewhere.”
Clinton added that she also believes that Trump still attacks her because she is a familiar target and one that his base can easily recognise.
Clinton continued: “It’s also part of his political strategy. It is something that he knows his hard-core supporters will respond to, and he’s trying to keep them on board. When in trouble in the Congress or the Russian investigation, his go-to targets are President Obama and me, and African Americans. It just is part of how he responds.”
The former State secretary, who is currently on a multi-state tour to sell her new book that is analysing what occurred during the election in 2016 has spoken out against Donald Trump since his election, giving criticism on issues that she cares about.
Clinton won the popular vote in the US by around 2.9 million votes — the highest popular vote win margin made by a losing candidate in history. However, Trump has won the electoral college by taking various states that were believed to be reliably Democratic but were swayed by the populist rhetoric of Trump.
