Apple recently made a phone that features a notch (the iPhone X). However, it appears that various Android manufacturers such as Asus and possibly Huawei are following suit.
Currently, Leagoo, a Chinese manufacturer of Android devices, has launched its own S9 handset that has an iPhone X notch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC).
However, the Leagoo S9 should not be mistaken with the Galaxy S9 of Samsung which was also revealed at MWC during the past week.
The new smartphone of Leagoo retails for only USD 150 and has functionality for facial unlock that makes use of its notch. Nevertheless, the ‘Face Access’ of the Leagoo S9 is not the same as that of the iPhone X’s, as its notch does not include a dot projector.
The Leagoo S9 also features on-screen controls for going back to the home screen and going back to an app, similar to the flagship of Apple.
Other features of the Leagoo S9 include a 5.85-inch IPS display, 32GB of storage, 4GB of RAM, as well as a 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensor dual rear camera setup. The device also features a 3,300mAh battery and an unnamed 1.5Ghz octa-core chipset.
The Leagoo S8 made use of a MediaTek Helio P25 chipset, so it is possible that the S9 will make use of the newer MediaTek Helio P30 processor.
The Leagoo S9 is yet to have a release date, and it seems that there is also an S9 Pro variant that is set to be coming out as well.
Officially, Leagoo does not sell its phones in some countries. However, the handsets of the company are available on Amazon via third-party retailers.
