Michael Cohen: Donald Trump Directed Me To Make Hush Money Payments

Michael Cohen, the former lawyer of US President Donald Trump, claims Trump ordered him to make hush money payments.

Cohen has been sentenced to three years in prison. During an interview with ABC, a US broadcaster, he claims that he followed “a bad path” in being loyal to President Trump. However, he said that he would “not be the villain” in the story.

Cohen stated: “He directed me to make the payments. He directed me to become involved in these matters.,”

As a response to the denials and claims of President Trump that his former lawyer was set on embarrassing him, Cohen stated: “It is absolutely not true. I don’t think there’s anybody who believes that.”

Cohen also said that President Trump was aware that the payments were wrong and was very concerned regarding how the news of the affairs would affect the 2016 election campaign.

Last Wednesday, Cohen pleaded guilty to charges of bank and tax fraud, lying to Congress about the discussions over building a Trump Tower in Moscow, and violations of campaign finance – the payments to two women who claimed to have had affairs with President Trump.

However, Cohen has insisted that it was all at the direction of his former employer. He stated: “Nothing at the Trump Organisation was ever done unless it was run through Mr. Trump.”

He added: “He knows the truth. I know the truth. Others know the truth.

“And here is the truth: People of the United States of America, people of the world, don’t believe what he is saying. The man doesn’t tell the truth. And it is sad that I should take responsibility for his dirty deeds.”

His comments come as part of a number of public apologies that were released from Cohen who has been expressing remorse for his own misdeeds while working as one of the key men of President Trump, having been sentenced to three years in prison earlier this week.
