It seems like those burnout-loving drivers of Nascar are going to get some serious competition from a semi-truck. Richard Fielder, a YouTube user, caught a short but dramatic video of a silver truck of Tesla that is stressing out its tires using its intense acceleration ability.
This week, Fielder posted the video, and Reddit brought to the attention of the world, and it is worth turning up the volume for. The truck sounds like it is a sci-fi spaceship. People can hear the tires turning on the pavement as smoke appears and semi shoots away into the distance.
The Tesla truck was caught doing its thing on a public street with a speed sign of 25 mph posted. It is difficult to tell if the truck might be exceeding that limit. The video is only 10 seconds long. However, it is endlessly entertaining.
In November 2017, Elon Musk officially launched the electric semi. Seeing the trucks in the wild on video has become a sport ever since that launch. People saw a video of a guy tailing one last December and a short glimpse at one driving by late last January.
The specs of the Tesla truck are quite impressive. The all-electric powertrain of the truck can propel the Tesla Semi up to 500 miles between charges when it is equipped with its biggest battery. It is claimed that the brakes would never require a replacement, and the interior highlights a unique centre seating position and, in the traditional fashion of Tesla, it features big ol’ screens.
Once Tesla begins to deliver the semis to customers, people can expect to see a lot more of the trucks on the road. Large companies like Anheuser-Busch and UPS have already placed their orders for the high-tech hauliers. Until then, people will have to get by on these fleeting video sneak peeks of the machines.
