Shaun Bailey worked as a special adviser to David Cameron. He is also an ex-youth worker. Bailey is currently vying to become the next Conservative candidate for the Mayor of London.
Bailey was the Spad of the former Prime Minister on crime and youth. Currently, he is a member of the London Assembly. He will be running against Richard Tice, a businessman. He is also going against a host of other candidates that is scheduled to be chosen later this month.
Bailey stated: “As former youth worker who was born to parents from the Windrush Generation, this is a very proud moment for my family.”
He continued: “I will focus my efforts on ensuring all Londoners have a stronger stake in society, from providing better housing to creating safer communities. This city has given me ample opportunities and I don’t want to be an exception.
He added: “If chosen as the Conservative party candidate, I will be a salesman for our great city. We have some great opportunities ahead of us, and supporting London with great housing and a world-class transport network will be top priorities for me.”
On Twitter, he posted a video that has a caption that said: “Can confirm I want to be the next @Conservatives Mayor of London. From better housing to creating safer communities, I want to give all Londoners a stronger stake in society. Join me today! #BackBailey”
Bailey has already received extensive political support for his upcoming candidacy, with various endorsements coming from former ministers including Ed Vaizey and Greg Hands.
One of the supporters of Bailey, Jon Hollis, posted a video on Twitter and said: “I’m going to go out on a limb & suggest that @ShaunBaileyUK will be the only potential candidate for London Mayor who could celebrate winning with a backflip.”
