Speech by Sadiq Khan Disrupted By Protesters Calling for Arrest of the London Mayor

Today, a group of protesters that supports Donald Trump interrupted a speech by Sadiq Khan, announcing a plan to perform a citizen’s arrest of the Mayor of London.

Khan was due to start a speech regarding gender equality at the Fabian Society, a left-leaning think tank, when a group who are called the White Pendragons called for the arrest of Khan as well as shouting Brexit and pro-Trump slogans.

One man stated: “Ladies and gentlemen, we’re here today to make a non-violent, peaceful citizen’s arrest.”

Eventually, the police escorted the demonstrators away.

Yesterday, Khan posted a statement of Twitter saying that “President Trump got the message” from Londoners who do not approve of his “divisive agenda” following the cancellation of his trip to the United Kingdom.

Donald Trump scrapped a trip to the United Kingdom that was planned for February where he was supposed to reveal the new US embassy in London. He declined to attend the opening ceremony of the building, saying that it was a “bad deal” that was done by former US President Barack Obama, despite the plans actually being started under former US President George W. Bush.

Once Khan resumed his speech, he stated “On the plus side, I wasn’t served with a P45,” referencing the Tory conference speech of Theresa May in which she was interrupted by a prankster.

Khan continued: “It is a pleasure to be here even though we were distracted by the actions of what some would call very stable geniuses.”

Last week, Trump described himself as “a very stable genius” following accusations that he was “intellectually incapable” of holding office.
