Supply Contracts Won by Dana Amidst Bid to Merge with GKN Unit

On Thursday, Dana Inc, a maker of components for automobiles, revealed that it would supply the front and rear axles for the next generation of the luxury vehicles of Jaguar and Land Rover in a contract that is worth 300 million pounds.

The firm has also been chosen as the driveline supplier for the certain new chassis cab trucks of Chevrolet Silverado of General Motors Co, whose production is scheduled to stary in late this year.

Dana has been the supplier of driveline technologies to General Motors and some of its predecessors for over a century, It was not able to disclose the amount of the contract with Chevrolet.

The company said that the total investment of Dana for the program that is related to the luxury vehicles is anticipated to be approximately 21 million pounds.

The said contract wins were announced as Dana has been in the midst of a bidding war with Melrose to merge with the automotive business of GKN, an engineering company in the United Kingdom.
